OVERVIEW

Who Provides Service?
Roadside assistance is provided by the nearest available independent facility contracted by AAA. These contractors provide you with the services described below. You may choose to purchase products or additional services from these contractors. However, such extra services will not be covered by your roadside assistance benefits or warranted by AAA. Contractors are not officially approved by AAA to perform auto repairs and maintenance services, unless they also belong to AAA's Approved Auto Repair Program.

Roadside assistance will be provided on any eligible vehicle that you are driving or riding in at the time of disablement when you present your personal valid membership card. Your spouse and driver-age children may be eligible for AAA Associate memberships that extend road service benefits to them. Contact your nearest AAA office or call our Member Service Center for eligibility details and to enroll.

Regular Membership provides services to the following:

SERVICES PROVIDED

Battery Service
If you have trouble starting your vehicle due to a dead or weak battery, a battery boost will be provided, unless not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.

Tire Service
Should you experience a blowout or a flat tire, your inflated, serviceable spare will be installed on your vehicle. Actual repair of the tire is not included. Installation/removal of snow tires or chains is not provided except as required to replace a flat tire. If no inflated spare is available, the vehicle will be towed in accordance with the towing provision. AAA Plus RV extends tire changing service to eligible dual-wheeled vehicles. When traveling outside the Club's territory, this AAA Plus RV service may be on a reimbursement basis because not all AAA Clubs include this service.

Mechanical First Aid
When it is safe, minor adjustments, not requiring parts or supplies, will be attempted at the scene to render your vehicle driveable. These adjustments cannot be guaranteed and you should immediately proceed to a repair facility to consult a mechanic.

Extrication and Winching Service
Your vehicle will be extricated/winched when it can be safely reached from a normally-traveled road by a service vehicle with automobile servicing equipment operated by one person. If additional help is needed, you may opt to pay for additional services, and the service provider may utilize additional persons or equipment (where available that are needed to free your vehicle.

For members with AAA Plus RV, a second driver and truck will be provided, if necessary, for up to one hour at the scene of disablement.

Extrication/winching services not included as part of your membership are:
  • Snowbound vehicle recovery. (Service providers are not required to shovel snow, mud, dirt or sand to clear obstructed roadways nor are they required to enter areas unsuitable for vehicular traffic.)
  • Recovery of vehicles that are driven into an area not maintained as a road, such as beaches, vacant lots, playgrounds, creek beds, open fields, boat ramps, and forest or private roads.
Towing Service
If all attempts fail to start your vehicle and make it safely driveable, it will be towed at no charge to your choice of the following:
  • To the service provider's facility.
  • To any point within five miles of the place of disablement.
If you need additional towing beyond that provided, the contractor will provide it. The service provider will charge you the facility's prevailing private rate for additional towing. If your vehicle must be towed to a specific repair shop, we ask that you call the facility in advance to be sure the vehicle will be accepted. If the selected repair facility is not open for business, you must be present when the vehicle is delivered. A service provider will not leave a vehicle at a closed repair facility unless the member is there to accept it.

Please understand that, on occasion, towing to your ultimate destination may be disrupted due to unusual circumstances. Unavoidable service delays may result from extreme weather conditions, heavy demands for service, availability of personnel/equipment or applicable laws.

AAA's obligation has been fulfilled when your disabled vehicle reaches the appointed destination. Any repairs or additional towing for the same breakdown will be provided at your own expense. Local ordinances may prohibit the service provider responding to the call to carry more than one passenger. If necessary, the Club will assist members in finding alternate transportation to the towing destination and beyond at the member's expense.

With AAA Plus RV, your vehicle will be towed up to 100 miles, without charge, in any direction from the place of disablement to a destination of your choice. Of course, any repairs or additional towing for the same breakdown will be at your own expense.

Lock Out Service
If your keys are locked inside your vehicle, a service provider will attempt to gain entrance. If your keys are lost, broken or the service person cannot gain entrance to your vehicle, locksmith service up to $50 or reimbursement for commercial locksmith service up to $50 will be provided to make your vehicle operable. Or you may request a tow to any commercial locksmith or other destination in accordance with the towing provisions.

With AAA Plus RV, you're eligible for locksmith service up to $100 or reimbursement for commercial locksmith service up to $100 under the conditions stated above.

Fuel Delivery Service
If you run out of fuel, an emergency supply will be delivered, when available, to your disabled vehicle enabling you to reach the nearest service station. You will be charged for the fuel, paying the current full-service pump price. There is no charge for the fuel if you're a member with AAA Plus RV.

Emergency Repair Check Acceptance
Should you be faced with emergency repairs and/or services, AAA contractors will accept your personal check for up to $250, when no other means of payment are available. Your check will be accepted if it is printed with your name, is made payable to the contractor for the exact amount of the repair bill and if you present your driver's license and your current AAA membership card.

REIMBURSEMENT

Reimbursement Guidelines
If you obtain non-AAA Roadside Assistance without first requesting service from AAA, your reimbursement will be up to the contract rate paid to AAA service providers for similar services.

To obtain reimbursement, please follow these steps:
  1. Contact AAA by phone, online or through a full-service office to obtain a reimbursement application form.
  2. Complete the form and mail it with the original paid receipt to AAA. Receipt must be fully paid in the member's name receiving service. Requests for reimbursement must be submitted to AAA within 60 days of the date service was provided.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND SERVICE

Independent Contractors
AAA contractors are selected for their ability to provide reliable service. AAA cannot guarantee that they will have all of the parts you need for your vehicle, nor will AAA accept responsibility for repairs, or the availability, delivery, or installation of parts.

Understandably, in providing roadside assistance, AAA cannot and does not assume responsibility for the actions of independent service facility personnel. These facilities serve as independent contractors and are not employees or agents of AAA. Any loss or damages resulting from their actions are the sole responsibility of the contractor and should be reported immediately to the service facility owner before repairs are made. If a satisfactory resolution with the owner has not been reached within 10 days, the incident can be reported to AAA and a representative of AAA will attempt to reconcile the dispute between you and the facility owner.

Excessive Use of Service
In fairness to all members, roadside assistance is not to be used as a substitute for proper vehicle maintenance. To help control membership dues, AAA has a four-call limit on roadside assistance usage. Each member is eligible for four (4) service calls per membership year. After the fourth call, the member may continue to call AAA for service, but must be prepared to pay the service provider for services rendered. These service limits enable AAA to continue providing reliable, highquality, cost effective roadside assistance. Please note that Primary and Associate Members within the same household have different membership numbers and each is eligible for four calls. The membership number used when requesting services will be the account charged with the service call. Multiple service calls for the same problem will be counted separately on your service record.
