The following is provided as general information about policies available through AAA. Of course, if you obtain coverage from us, the actual policy and endorsements, when issued, will determine the limits of your coverage.
Mandatory Coverage:
Michigan Law requires that you carry No-Fault insurance if you're the owner of a car or truck licensed for road use. Here are some of the major features of this coverage.
Personal Protection Insurance
Pays for your personal injury expenses and losses if you're ever hurt in an automobile accident. It also covers family members who reside in your household and passengers riding in your vehicle who are not covered by similar insurance.
Within certain limitations, Personal Protection Insurance pays for virtually all your medical and hospital costs. For a period of up to three years, it can pay for the income you lose as a result of your injuries, and for the financial support your dependents require should you die from your injuries.
You can reduce the cost of this coverage by coordinating benefits with your current health insurance or income protection plan (if you're covered by one that coordinates with your no-fault insurance).
Property Protection Insurance
Pays for damages, regardless of fault, done by your car (in Michigan) to properly parked vehicles or fixed properties such as buildings or lampposts. Damage to your own property is not covered.
Outside Michigan, your legal liability for property damage is covered by Residual Property Damage Liability Insurance.
Residual Liability Insurance
Pays when you are legally liable for unintentional bodily injury and also covers property damage to others outside of Michigan.
Minimum coverage limits on mandatory No-Fault insurance are set by law. Higher limits are available on selected coverages at additional cost.
Death Indemnity Coverage
For your added protection, Death Indemnity Coverage is automatically provided on most vehicles with mandatory
coverages in effect. This coverage pays $10,000 if you are killed in an automobile accident. If you are
married, $10,000 also applies to your spouse.

Optional Coverage:
Collision Coverage
Having fulfilled the No-Fault requirements, you should also consider collision protection for your vehicle. We give you a choice of three different coverages ... each offering a varying degree of vehicle protection.
Limited Collision
Pays for damages to your vehicle only if the driver of your vehicle is not substantially at fault.*
Basic Collision
Pays for damage to your vehicle, less a deductible, regardless of fault.
Broad Collision
Pays for damage to your vehicle regardless of fault.
If you are not substantially at fault in the accident, the deductible will be waived.*
(*"Substantially at fault" means more than 50% at fault)
Comprehensive Coverage
Suppose a tree falls on your car, or a stone shatters your windshield. You need protection for that, too. That's where Comprehensive Coverage comes in.
Comprehensive Coverage pays for non-collision-related losses including fire, theft, glass breakage and vandalism, less a deductible. It even provides limited benefits for alternative transportation if your vehicle is ever stolen.

Additional Coverage:
At additional cost, you can supplement your protection with one or more optional coverage:
Extra Equipment Coverage
Increases Comprehensive and Collision Coverage limits for attached parts and equipment not installed by or available from the original manufacturer, from $1000 up to the limit selected.
Car Rental Coverage
Reimburses you for rental car usage if your car is out of service over 24 hours, due to a loss covered by your Collision or Comprehensive Coverage. Coverage is available in daily limits of $20, $25, $30, $40 or $50 for a period up to 30 days.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Coverage
Pays for damages you are legally entitled to recover from an owner or operator of a motor vehicle which is either uninsured or insured with limits that are inadequate to compensate you for auto accident injuries that are caused by that person's negligence and results in death, serious impairment of body function or permanent serious disfigurement.
Michigan Limited Property Damage Coverage (Mini-tort)
If you are more than 50% of the cause of the accident, the other driver may sue you for that part of their loss that was not paid for by the insurer. They can only sue you for up to $500. Michigan Limited Property Damage Coverage will pay this for you if you buy this coverage.
Broadened Other Car Coverage
Your Liability Coverage does not protect you for use of some types of non-owned vehicles. This would include such vehicles as rental trucks or cars furnished or available for frequent or regular use. Broadened Other Car Coverage will protect you for their use only if you buy this coverage.
An important word about deductibles
Your insurance rate depends greatly on the deductibles you choose for your Collision and Comprehensive Coverage. The higher your deductibles, the greater your savings.
